My Favorite New Black-Owned Plant Shop in Atlanta-Area
Tuesday, August 25, 2020I've wanted to be a plant mom for a very long time, but in the past 10 years I've had two different Christmas cacti that I didn't quite know how to take care (or never really put the time in to take care of), and they died. I killed Christmas cacti! I bet you thought that was impossible, right? Me too. But I put it on my 101 in 1001 list, and made it happen. I got several during June (my birthday), and just kept buying them.
Then in July, a local plant shop opened up, and I've basically visited weekly since then.
Botanical Safari is small, black-owned plant nursery in Douglasville, GA - about 20 miles west of Atlanta. And it's super easy to find.
Take I-20 to Exit 34 (Highway 5), and turn south off the exit (right off the exit if coming from Alabama, left off the exit if coming from Atlanta). Botanical Safari is immediately to the right in the JOANN shopping center, behind Little Caesars.
Every single time I've gone, they've had something new and different. I've gotten everything from tiny 1" stonecrop succulents to a 3' fiddle leaf fig. I've gotten snake plants, peace lilies, English ivy, arrowhead plants, calathea, and red aglaonema. But they have so much more than those. And their prices are so incredibly reasonable. I am in awe and so thrilled every time I visit.
They're also very responsive on social media, so if you're looking for something or interested in something they post about, I highly recommend reaching out via Instagram DM. They've shared prices with me and how many of a plant they have left, so I could plan ahead and budget for my trip. Also, be sure to tag them in any social media post - they're so appreciative and will repost.
See below for more photos of the shop, and be sure to stop by if you're in the Atlanta area. It is absolutely worth the drive. And if you need any additional recommendations while you're in the area, let me know!
