Book Review: Tiny Hot Dogs: A Memoir in Small Bites by Mary Giuliani

TW: Miscarriage/infertility
I had never heard of Mary Giuliani prior to reading Tiny Hot Dogs. Honestly, I had her confused with Giuliana Rancic and was like "oh, she's in the food world, too?" Lol. Uh, no. Different person. So, maybe that will clear that up for you, too.
Anyways, Tiny Hot Dogs is a fun, quick memoir from Giuliani about entering the catering world and becoming "caterer to the stars." The story also dives into her personal life and the struggles she faced with pregnancies and infertility.
For the most part, I found Mary to be highly relatable. She was funny and "real." But there were also many moments that seemed so braggy and like nothing but name-dropping, which kind of irked me and seemed too far-fetched for me to connect with. I get that these things happened and they're her experience, but to me it seemed almost cocky and unrelatable.
"Not everything has to be big. Not everything has to be skywriting. Finding the big in the small works for me and allows me to be happy with what I've got. If we all want more from something, aren't we always going to be disappointed?" Tiny Hot Dogs, Mary Giuliani
Overall, I did really enjoy the book. It was easy to read and follow along. The book is set up in essay-style, so the information/storytelling could be redundant at times, but I enjoyed the small snippet style chapters. Most chapters also ended with a recipe of some kind (which I will never be able to follow because there were no pictures and I felt the recipes weren't super easy to follow but maybe that's just me).
I'm not sure what kind of category this will fall into. Obviously, it's a memoir in essays, but I'm not super into catering or Food Network shows, but I think this would definitely be up your alley if that's your thing. I enjoyed it either way.
Goodreads rating: ★★★☆☆
I received this book free in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are totally my own.

This sounds like something I would like to check out. I think infertility and those experiences aren't heard about enough, so I would like to hear something from someone in those shoes. Thanks for sharing!
