Hubby and I had some good times in 2019, with lots of experiences taking place instead of the exchange of material gifts. It's something I love to do and intend to continue throughout our life together. If you've been following for a while, you may recall I talked about travel tradition - we collect magnets when we take trips and gather experiences together.

Today, I want to share our 2018 magnet collection.

Savannah, GA | May 2018

Las Vegas, NV | December 2018

I took a few extra trips, one with one of my sisters to Savannah, one to Phoenix for a work trip, and a Halloween tour with my other sister, but I don't buy magnets for trips without hubby. It's our special collection together. I'm so excited to see where 2019 will take us!

What were your favorite experiences or travels in 2018?

  1. I love botanical gardens- always so beautiful! I collect shot glasses from my trips. Started when I was younger haha but they’ll be fun to display - I have Some out now but my collection is getting big!

    1. My sister used to collect shot glasses and I would always buy her one when I went places (even as a young teenager, lol). I love knowing what people collect from their trips. It's such a fun insight to have.

  2. I think it's awesome you guys have this consistent tradition! We started a tradition early on that we would only ever buy practical souvenirs from our trips--things we knew that we needed for our kitchen or home. We bought our salt and pepper shakers on our honeymoon, an ice cream scoop on a trip to Minnesota, a serving spoon from Japan, and things like that. :P The trip we took in 2018 was to Hong Kong, and it was so much fun--my souvenir was a keychain, which was practical because my house keys, I had broken my keychain shortly before the trip, and I needed a new one! haha! I love it because all these years later, I think about our Minnesota trip every time I eat ice cream at home. :)

    1. That is such a good idea! I love that you buy practical things. I'm so rough on stuff - I will feel so sad if I ever broke or messed up a practical item that was also a souvenir. But that's such an amazing idea! I love that it brings back memories by such "mundane" tasks.
