Passion can be a funny thing. At times it can fluctuate, changing as you get older and learn more about yourself. Sometimes your passions can stay the same over time, while you become passionate about other things as well, and then they'll bounce off each other and work in weird ways that are unexpected.

Writing's always been a passion. I remember writing stories as far back as I could write - specifically a horror story called Strawberry Hill which was a bit Twilight Zone-y and everyone was traveling on pogo sticks at one point. In college, I was editor of the school newspaper. And now, here I am blogging (and writing a million grad school papers each semester).

Reading has become more of a passion over the past couple of years, and reading challenges are a fun thing that keep me accountable (and also bring out a bit of my competitive side, even though, who am I even competing against?).

Another passion of mine, which has been a passion since college is helping college students.

Something y'all may not know is that the degree I'm currently working on is a masters of education in counseling with a focus on college student affairs. Which is probably something you may not even understand what it means. Basically, my goal is to use student development theory to support students  on their goal to earn their degree. While I'm learning how to do that through an educational standpoint via my masters program, I'm also doing so everyday in my full-time position as an academic advisor.

I'm lucky enough to work in a job I absolutely love - a role I'm passionate about. So, while work is still work - it's not something I dread doing on a day-to-day basis.

When it comes to the reading and writing - I am able to continue developing those things through my blog, and during my free time. I'm able to be part of an awesome community of bloggers, and earn a bit of a side income.

Through reading, I am able to connect with publishers and authors via reviews and social media promotion.

Regardless of what your passions are, you can find a way to use those in a way that makes you happy. Maybe you don't have your dream job yet - but don't give up, because there is nothing like perseverance. Find something you can do during your free time to elevate your passion - maybe that's volunteering, or running marathons, or what-have-you. But you'll find that thing that just clicks for you.

Tell me more about your passion. I can't wait to hear about it.
