The kitchen. We sure do spend a lot of time there, especially when we're trying to not go out to eat for every meal. From doing dishes, to making dinner, to fixing drinks, a lot goes down in the kitchen. So it's great to keep it organized so things are super-duper easy to find. Hence, a kitchen command center. This thing has been a lifesaver and is so easy (and cheap) to make. Plus, it's renter friendly! No tough-to-install rods or drilling holes into the wall.
Kitchen Command Center
What you'll need:
2 decorate removable wall hooks
1 tension rod (you'll want a slimmer one to fit nicely into the hooks)
a variety of s-hooks
a wire basket
How to make it:
1. Decide where you want your command center to be. Our's is over the sink!
2. Evenly place the removable wall hooks on the wall. They should be closer together than the tension rod is long. Let sit for at least one hour to set into place.
3. Place tension rod in hooks.
4. Add your s-hooks, hanging a wire basket from one hook. Other hooks can be used to hold dish cloths, notes , miniature flower pots or more!
Bonus! Add two additional s-hooks and a smaller rod to use as a paper towel holder!
Now that was easy, wasn't it? And took almost no time. Unlike doing the dishes.

Washing the dishes is seriously one of my least favorite chores. (Who am I kidding? I have no favorite chores.) While we do have a dishwasher, which makes doing dishes a little less overwhelming, I never stick my pots, pans, or knives in there. Those are hand-washed only (someone please remind my husband!).
It's always a task to not scratch the enamel on the pots and pans, especially those that are fun colors (like our bright orange ones, for example). Luckily, Scotch-BriteⓇ Scrubbing Dish Cloths are the bomb.com. Seriously, they're premium, textured fiber dish cloths that have scrubbing dots on one side. The scrubbing dots are basically magic, and have non-scratch scrubbing power to scrub away the toughest messes without scratching. Seriously, magic. I've been using the Scotch-BriteⓇ Scrubbing Dish Cloths for close to two years, and it has truly saved me stress, energy, and money. You can just regularly toss them into the washing machine with other dish towels and use them over and over again.
Where can you find these miraculous Scotch-BriteⓇ Dish Cloths, you ask. Lucky for you, you can pick them up at your local Kroger store, and with $1 off two using the coupon linked below. You don't even have to make an extra trip. Just grab a pack when you're out grocery shopping. #TeamDishCloth, forever.
Be sure to enter the Scotch-Brite™ Scrubstakes for a chance to win a $20,000 kitchen makeover!

That's sweet! I like that setup, unfortunately our sink is on an island so we can't have a full on command center but I will for sure keep that idea in mind for whenever we move.
ReplyDeleteWhat's great about this project is you can place it anywhere! It could be on the side of your island, too!
