The Whitter Wedding Quilt

Can I say I have a favorite wedding gift? Is that acceptable? Well, whether it is or not, I'm saying it. We had a ton of amazing gifts. We got a crockpot and a toaster, a Keurig 2.0 (YESSS! Life has changed forever), so many gift cards and so much money that we didn't have to pay out of pocket for anything we did on our honeymoon, including gas to get there and home. We had amazing gifts, and from amazing people, nonetheless!

But my favorite, which I will cherish forever and ever, is our Whitter wedding quilt.

For our guest "book," we decided on using small fabric scraps to be signed by guest, and my mom hand-sewed the pieces together to make us the quilt by hand. I am so amazed and blessed to have such a wonderful mom who would take the time to do that for us.

Because we used small two-by-two inch fabric squares, the quilt is smaller, so we've hung it on the wall, as a tapestry.

We didn't actually get around to reading the signed pieces until the quilt was complete. There were so many kind words, full of love and congratulations, and a few fun, off-the-wall wishes, as well. Here are three of my favorite:

"I read Harry Potter books for 5 days straight before your wedding. It seemed appropriate. Love forever, and always- Hope & Rohan." Hope is one of my oldest friends, and Rohan is her adorable son. She was the person who gifted me with my very first Harry Potter book, which changed my life.

"Congrats Andre & Kayla. I wish you guys lots of happy years together & a big family with a lot of babies. Love, Auntie Nadine." It's ironic really, Andre has an Auntie Nadine and I have an Aunt Nadene. This one is from Andre's auntie, but it's just such a sweet note.

"The Whitters. Congrats you two. We are extremely happy for you guys, and remember, 2 Pac cares if don't nobody else care. Tevin & Shemeka WE LOVE YOU! <3" This one was sweet, but just had the fun little 2Pac note that gave me a good giggle.

I am in love with our quilt/tapestry, and I am definitely going to cherish it forever. (And technically, my mom just finished it a few days ago, so is it really a wedding gift?)
